Yeah I really like Sony stuff, but all the cool cutting edge products come from other companies. If anyone could compete with Apple on engineering/design and making that product you just want but can't really peg why, it would be Sony.

The Walkman brand still had some value for a while and they still have awesome engineering chops (2009 VAIO Z, Vita) but all wasted. There's also the Sony tax and the fetish for proprietary formats.
