They abandoned the necessity of present day ancestors to see the past since at least Origins. You just need a person’s DNA now since you’re getting Kasandra’s from the spear itself.

If you have no problem with the DLC fine, that doesn’t mean you can’t critique what the DLC is portraying for people who may not agree with the narrative. It doesn’t destroy the game but its a sour note for many of us and it should be discussed and address.
Except these characters are “ancestors”, which implies they had coitus with opposite sex. So not exclusively gay, no.
Hey genius, you’re wrong. The end of the article itself points out “recent games in the series, including Odyssey, have featured Animus tech that doesn’t require descendants.” Meaning they’re not necessarily ancestors and didn’t need to have kids. Did you read the article or just scroll down to the comments section to…
Not to mention that placing a gay character in a positio where they’re obligated to procreate with the opposite sex is, like, a whole other story in itself and not something that can just be relegated to a binary option.
Generally, I’d agree. Which is why games have to be prudent about picking what things they want players to have control over and what not.
The problem is that Ubi chose to advertise romance and sexual identity as the thing players would have control over. They had interviews dedicated to this, even saying you could…
Why even let the player play these characters then?
Nope. The new animus works with a DNA sample of the person you want to relive the memories of. No descendant required.
in game where the devs specifically said “we wont force any romances on you that you dont want” and that sexual/romantic partners for the character was 100% player choice, yeah it is.
Its pretty serious when you’re under represented and a company decides to herald their game being LGBT open and friendly and your character can be a gay/lesbian badass hero and then suddenly decides, ‘LOL NOPE! You can’t live your entire life without becoming a suddenly!hetro (wiggle room if you want to play as a…
thats not a fact at all. Trans people exist and can procreate with cis people via homosexual relationships.
No they changed the mythology - they’re not bloodline ancestors for quite a few games now. This was literally unnecessary in the game’s OWN canon. So fuck off.
This is straight bullshit.
What I think happened at Ubisoft-
“Punch in the gut” cause your character had a baby and got into a relationship is too much. Its not that serious.
Dude, I am a straight male... And I have played have played rpg’s where I play straight, bi and queer characters.
Thank God a vast majority of people playing these games do not consider their character’s “sexuality” to be one of the most important characteristics.
Guys like that (and it’s always guys) fail to consider the flipside to that scenario. Imagine you’re playing as a straight male and the story forces you to be in a gay relationship. *Gasp* This choice by Ubisoft is very upsetting and disrespectful to its audience. I mean you don’t even need your character to have a…
It doesn’t help that the achievement for completing it is called ‘Growing Up.’ Like, it’s a minor thing, but I know at least for younger lesbians, we’re frequently told we’ll eventually ‘grow up’ and get a husband and have a child. Just a small bit of added irritant.
Why the hell....would they do this?
