I do like the episode, but yes, I've always thought it would be more fun if it was closer to Reno 911! meets science fiction. I suppose the danger would be that too many vignettes of camera crews chasing supernatural creatures in one night would, in theory, provide proof of the paranormal, but we're at about the point

That episode contains perhaps my two favourite lines in the series: Gerald casually asking Arnold "You wanna go throw rocks at Helga throwing rocks at a dumpster?" and Eugene calmly observing that "It's like we have all this unfocused rage…" as he obliviously snaps a ruler in half.

I can answer this with the utmost, nerdiest specificity. There are only two instances in the entire series in which all 9 regular characters are in the same room together: Public Relations (when the Bluths are being instructed on how to improve the family's image) and Marta Complex (Lucille's Valentine's party/Lindsey

This is going to sound like an odd recommendation, but the series of "Let's Play" videos he made exploring the (100% fictional) Sega 32x "game" Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Special Edition is an internet masterpiece of found footage and gradually spiralling insanity.

He's writing and starring in a series for Comedy Central called Review with Forrest MacNeil. I miss him too, but his absence is for a good cause.

And in the spirit of Manos' characters all sounding nearly identical, Paul F. Tompkins will use his John C. Reilly voice to perform his character.

He did that Larry David impression on a Primetime Glick sketch back in the day ("Curb Your Capitalism"), and I was delighted to see him pull it out again. Short's presence in the Charlie Brown sketch made it feel like I was watching a new episode of SCTV, and that was a very good feeling indeed.

I don't know if it was from this year, but the episode where they talked about the products on the Badonkadonk page's "Customers Who Viewed This Item Also Viewed" list is probably the podcast highlight of my life.

The cavalier way in which they killed off Justin Long within the show's universe is still, two weeks later, making me crack up in public places.

I'm going to be "that guy" and point out that the team you described only covered the 2000 election and had pretty much dispersed by 2003. The 2004 election was covered by Colbert, Corddry, Helms, and Bee, with a little bit of Carell and Wiltfong (WHOOOO?) on the side. 'Zell on Earth' is still amazing.

Maybe, but I think we need to hear Tobias say it just so it's confirmed that he's not COMPLETELY oblivious and wasn't, in his past, going around referring to himself as how one would initially imagine "analrapist" is pronounced.

Other weird thing about that montage: The names of Michael's other two dates, Barbara and Dee, surface again during Making a Stand as the names of the (at the very least) strippers Gob uses to drum up business for his banana stand. Not sure if they were going for something with that, but it's certainly a.. thing.
