I had a first-gen MR2. I loaded both trunks with groceries several times. I literally made Costco runs in a 1985 MR2. Come at me.

Just do yourselves a favor and buy a used Elise. Toyota drivetrain, Lotus handling and styling. $30k or so for a good one. A new MR-2 would probably start at $30k and still not be as quick or handle as well as a bone-stock base model Elise.
Lack of storage space is often a deal breaker for people that can only have one car. Yes we like fun, but sometimes life gets in the way. Besides, it’s not really hard to have some trunk space in a mid-engined car. If my Elise can have a trunk that can fit groceries (or a toolbox, a floorjack, an air compressor,…
Already been done old chap
My prediction is MR2 Cross. I mean, the eclipse needs a competitor now that it’s an SUV.
Seriously, Toyota only has five crossovers and SUVs in their line-up - so many empty slots in their product line that could be filled.
This is cool news and all, but what they should be doing is exploring all the SUV niches again, because that is what people are buying lots of.
That’s the other thing that really grinds my gears: Porsche’s manuals are so good! They’re one of the benchmarks of “see, this is what a clutch* and shifter needs to feel like” for me.
I’ve only had my manual 997 for a few days, and while I’ve driven several PDK equipped Porsches previously - and admit they are faster point-to-point - It isn’t ANYWHERE near as fun as throwing a Porsche’s heavy, chunky, smooth, mechanical, beautifully weighted shifter through the gears between bursts of acceleration.
I say we can spell if we want to

Pretty sure that’s a Lambo, dude.
This guy desagrees...
Forget the people who put badges on things, or fake vents, chrome strips. Whatever. Amateurs.
For most FWD cars you see on the street, absolutely.
Anything from Pep Boys, really. But specifically, the stick-on chrome trim. People usually just stick it around their door edges, but I’ve seen it around the hood and wheelwells too.
I’m happy that the trunk on that Porsche has such good lines. It’s appalling when the trunk is cut into the bumper in a weird way.
I just bought a 2013 Chevy Volt that has a weird quirk with the turn signals that would drive a perfectionist nuts.
