It is, just like African Americans is a racist term. Most Black Americans (correct word) have never been to Africa nor are from Africa. You don’t call white people European Americans because it’s false just like you don’t call black people African Americans.
FYI African Americans is also a racist term because many black people are not from Africa or have ever been to Africa. Many have not had an African relative since the 1700s. Black Americans is the PC terminology.
