I’ve bought loot crates in the past, mostly on Heroes Of The Storm, but for Battlefront, I don’t feel the need in the least. EA is not doing anything surreptitious at all. They are saying “You can spend credits on this or buy crystals to buy more” They make it clear what comes in them, each crate is labeled clearly that it contains X amounts of Y item for Z price. There is no confusion on the matter.

So does buying it and not playing as much as hardcore competitive players, even without microtransactions. Besides, the game has systems in place that take all of this into account and pairs you vs people that it can that are reasonably evenly matched.

Every game uses “psychological tricks” to get people to play and pay. Oh that cool skin that you saw on an NPC? Or that weapon you liked that they showed off in a level? Maybe you enjoyed that snow level a lot, well all these things are available more as DLC! Hot dog!
