Risk is not an absolute, it should be assessed in relation to gain. So...

It’s a loan, not a credit card. There’s no fraud protection built into your terms. If the thing you spent your loan money on was fraudulent, then you have the option of legal action. But that doesn’t absolve you of your debts, it just gets you your money back so that you can pay them.

They received an education, they just got lied to about job placement and graduation rates. This article says nothing about the quality of the education they received... that is another matter entirely. Do you really think any of these “Executives” are going to have to pay a dime? No they will blame it on the

They do what everyone with a brain does... RESEARCH! We have this great thing called the internet where you can have an answer to just about any question with a quick click of the mouse. That’s what I did. I’m not one of those people that grew up programming, I had zero experience programming when I started college.

They picked a school based on job placement rates and “graduation rates”. Why the fuck would graduation rates matter for a determined individual? They can’t fail you or keep you from graduating as long as you work hard and make good grades.... it seems to me these people were looking for an easy way out and they got

Or people could just use common sense and the internet to research these schools prior to taking on such huge amounts of debt... then the schools will just go out of business the normal way and no one has to pay them shit.

I hope these students pay back the money they owe for making their own poor decisions so that you and I don’t have to pay it back for them(since our government makes no money and gets all of their money from taxes)

Step one: pick a good degree field that you can get a job in(I’m talking to you philosophy and business management people!) Step two: While in school search for internships or work in related fields to give you some real world experience. Step three: Work hard at school and focus on making excellent grades. Step five:

yeap, let me unscrew myself and instead screw everyone else for my mistakes. Seems about right for this country in this day and age.

Ok, well then we will let you pay off their debts with the money you make. I don’t want to give them a dime just because they made fucked up decisions. The regulatory system has fired back against these colleges where they can(as they are mentioned in this article) what failed here was these peoples critical thinking

I’m all for these people that were defrauded by the fraudulent schools getting as much of a refund as they can get, since fraud was involved. However, that should come from the school itself, from whatever they have left. Even if that amounts to the students only getting pennies on the dollars, unfortunately. And

wat. 18 year old students are not supposed to google that getting a degree in English and making big money is about as likely as getting drafted to the NFL?

Im suggesting the deadbeats be forced to join

as an employer... if i see someone in this situation, they didnt have the common sense to hold down a good job to begin with

Then they should forgive all the student loans that went to students who got liberal arts degrees and a degree they're not using. Many colleges don't tell new and prospective students that the degree they are wanting will not net them a good job or help them to pay back their loans.

So is the expectation that refusing to pay the debt will somehow screw the college? They’ve already gotten their money, right? So unless the government goes back to the college to get their money back, the only people getting screwed here are the taxpayers.

Maybe they shouldn't have taken out the loans. Don't ask the taxpayers to make good on them.

if you don’t want to pay your debts in cash, maybe you should pay for it with a tour in the Armed Forces

Anyone who believed the claims of these idiot online colleges was an idiot as well.

So the students didn’t do their homework, and took 80K in loans.
