While in the past, he’ll also have to try to rape his own mother for reasons no one will ever even attempt to explain or make sense of, as well as encounter some people who are flabbergasted by the notion that an Asian woman could have an English accent.

Dr. Hasslein will use this to somehow prove the existence of time travel and soon we'll be dealing with talking apes.

She’s definitely putting everything she’s got into promoting this album.

Counting Crows’ best album = The best episode of Caroline in the City

He deserved the Oscar for his line reading of “Alien love?!?!?!?!” alone.

This whole idiotic nonsense is Elf’s fault. I defy anyone to claim this song has been a “beloved holiday classic” for any longer than the last 15 years or so. I’m 55, and I sure don’t recall ever hearing it very much prior to that.

I like that “Give Yourself a Try” song - it sounds like the guitar riff from “Disorder” by Joy Division played on a house fly.

My local library has both Kanopy and Hoopla, which has a little more mainstream selection than Kanopy. The only drawback is that each only allows 5 checkouts/streams per month, which with winter coming on, I will burn through in a single weekend. (I know some libraries allow 10 a month, though, as I was checking to

That’s Jeff “Skunk” Baxter - guitarist for Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers and many other acts, ranging from soft rock to yacht rock to mellow rock, before he became a defense contractor and right-wing jackass.

So five pages, which is probably a quarter of the entire issue, and we see some people watch tv and put on a helmet. Golly gee whiz, I sure regret my decision to not buy comics anymore.

Plus Jules doesn’t even really get the point of the song. Roland Orzabel and Curt Smith were adherents of primal scream therapy, and one of the teachings they believed is that dreams in which the dreamer dies are actually a way of cleaning up the subconscious and are considered therapeutic. So the whole idea that “the

As near as I can tell, the first movie to use “Gimme Shelter” as a cue that something ominous is afoot was Adventures in Babysitting. So the seemingly unending legion of dopes who use it thinking they’re pulling a Scorcese move are actually imitating Chris Columbus. That makes me very happy for some reason.

Now playing

Swell bit of late period Britpop from 98 - mostly ignored then, mostly forgotten now: Rialto - “Untouchable.”

My sophomore year in high school was 1978.

+1 for mentioning Mercury Rev in the intro. -650 for including nothing from Deserter’s Songs in either the top 20 or for further listening.

Bah. Why the hell Disney doesn’t just pony up and buy the Micronauts and ROM is beyond me. It would be chump change for them and would allow Marvel to restore huge chunks of their continuity, and a GOTG movie with ROM would make me very happy. And it’s not like either of those properties are earning their current

I think they’d be okay to use Bug. He’s turned up in the GOTG comic in recent years, for instance. Pretty sure he was a Marvel original, along with Commander Rann and Marionette. And Slug, I guess, if they wanted to, and Huntarr. And the pink furry guy whose name I can’t remember who had a weird relationship with a

I kid. I would’ve also snuck in something from Peter Case’s solo debut (probably “A Walk in the Woods” or “Steel Strings”), “In a Whirlpool” by Cactus World News and “Matchstick Flotilla” by Thrashing Doves.

Amen to that! “The Seabirds” is a masterpiece. I read somewhere (maybe the liner notes for the CD reissue 10 or 15 years ago?) that they never performed that song live because they nailed it so perfectly for Born Sandy Devotional that they refused to ever allow a possibly inferior version into the world.

I would’ve just listed the entire contents of C86 and called it a day.
