I kind of like Book of Days - I think that "Shine," "Entertain Me," "Torch" and "House" are all really good. Granted, it bogs down due to the fact that the general pace and atmosphere doesn't vary much during the proceedings, but I think it's better than most people remember.

Wise words indeed.

I know what you mean.

It's one of those shows that was anointed with the "this show will suck" tag before the season even started, largely because of the title. Tell most people ahead of time that something's going to suck and they'll gladly play along.

The stupid Psychedelic Furs' useless first album is full of stupid stuff about useless things like stupid useless love, and that's why I love the stupid useless thing because stupid Richard Butler loved saying "stupid," "useless" and "love" so much on that stupid album that it rendered any words besides stupid and

I came to the Captain via a cut-out 8-track of Shiny Beast that a friend of mine had picked up for 99 cents somewhere in 1981 or thereabouts. I'd heard of Beefheart before, and had heard Magazine's cover of "I Love You, You Big Dummy" but hadn't had the courage to check out his stuff prior to that.

Ain't that the truth. Every time I think a human being couldn't possibly be more adorable, Gillan manages to take it up a notch.

It was a reference to a famous line from NewsRadio.

I want the names of people that found Car Talk grating, so I can make sure they're not included on the 2012 (the movie)-style arks being constructed to save the best of mankind from the rising oceans.

BTW, great job as always. Can I renew my call for a Random Roles for Melinda Dillon?

It wasn't entirely unexpected, as it was admittedly a pretty offensive comment if one didn't know the original context.

Well, at least you got the reference. Whoever removed my original comment must not have.

I was always partial to Og, king of Bashan.

I watched it because Kurt Fuller was a good soldier and acted excited about it in Random Roles. It wasn't the most terrible thing ever - Analeigh Tipton resided on the correct side of adorable and the supporting cast, especially Fuller, was enjoyable.

For every season of this show after the first year, my pattern for watching it has been "Watch the premiere episode of the season, lose interest halfway through the second episode, read recaps for the rest of the season to keep tabs with what's going on until the final episode (I'm counting half-seasons as full

"but brick-and-mortar comic shops aren’t always the most welcoming to female fans."

Have never really been an autograph hound, but have somehow amassed a fairly eclectic collection of signatures over the years:

The Celestials turned up in Guardians of the Galaxy, but I suspect that the MCU is not going to want to muddy the waters with too many alien races experimenting on mankind and will give that plotline completely to the Kree.

I also suspect that MacLachlan is Maximus the Mad, if for no other reason that he's one of those actors who's of the exact right stature to move back and forth between tv and movies. He's not too huge a name for tv show to hire as a guest star, yet a big enough name that he'd be a credible villain for an eventual

I actually love "Airportman," but definitely agree that "Lotus" is one of the crappiest crappy turds REM ever recorded. From the moment Stipe hollers "HEY HEY" you know you're in trouble - enthusiastic interjections out of Stipe were always a bad sign, but he never seemed to twig to that. Why he insisted on ruining
