YES. Thank you. I guess it comes down to how you interpret “gutsy” in this context - but to me, she is praising and emphasizing a parent’s decision to affirm and support their trans child as the right thing to do, even when society doesn’t make it easy. Reading it as “not pretty” seems extremely ungenerous. 

Hillary responding that she is “still learning” is vulnerability 101. This was the right response.

So, she reveals that she supports trans people and that she’s learning and trying to better herself on a topic and human condition that she wasn’t familiar with for most of her life. And the takeaway here is that that’s “not pretty”? The purity tests are unreal.

I don’t see what the issue is here. This is a new subject for many people, something they’ve never been exposed to before or thought much about.
