Hey, he’s not even on my Spotify! :) But I can sing along to his whole catalog. It’s not just about age, but genre, as I said. But if we’re talking nostalgia and why he was there, my point was that point. 

I liked it. I don’t think his vocals sounded strong, honestly, but the moment was a great one and apropos to the montage of Oscar-winning songs. 

I’m pretty sure he’s still very relevant to fans of his genre. Rage Against the Machine is touring again this year, and the twitterverse exploded, so, there’s plenty of people - probably Gen X’ers like me - who still find his music and music of our generation -relevant. 

I think his interview is fine too? A young kid not understanding how you win an Oscar for a song makes sense to me, as someone who teaches young people from poor backgrounds with little cultural literacy. But I still have a soft spot for “My Heart Will Go On” - the movie not so much, but the song is lovely.
