I think fashion trends have become what technology we use, not what clothes we wear. My students were AGHAST that I hadn’t updated my phone (old android) in 4 years. Ear buds, wireless, fitbits, Google watches, etc., that’s what distinguishes us now.

We have them, in New Jersey. They are often heavily discounted and in bulk. This is what the poors buy and this is why they cheer.
What it is, is that poor folks can buy old incandescent bulbs for much less than newer LEDs. They are still available, and often at less than a dollar.
