I feel like the abject poverty and lack of resources/support is the point. Overwhelm the poor with no choices, and you have modern day slavery.

I just watched A Plastic Ocean on Netflix, and today talked to my son about not having children. He’s eight years old, but I am truly frightened by what our world will look like - politically, environmentally, and culturally - in just 10 years. That film is scary real.

Also an adoptive mother, also think that it’s the biggest honor of my life. My child was born to an addict bio-mother in prison. What she looked like, what medical conditions she may have had, none of that mattered.

That’s sincerely horrible. Thanks for pointing this out.

I remember one kid in our elementary school of 400 who was allergic to bees, deadly allergic, which is the only reason we knew about it because she couldn’t go outside. The single case of an allergy that schools gave a shit about when I was coming up, that I ever knew of until I had kids 8 years ago. Is there a real

Hi jinni! My therapist told me to think like a lion tamer, in terms of controlling my emotions when dealing with other people. He said by letting my emotions control how I handled myself with others, how I let them affect me, was letting them have power so I had to be the lion tamer and control and master those

I say they start filing massive amounts of paternity suits. Once men actually have to pay for children they help willfully create, this law will become inconvenient to men, and thus probably be stricken down.

I’m no economist, but I think it’s been under-reported just how much these massive losses hurt others, particularly those working directly for trump (small businesses, contractors) but also your average loan recipient and taxpayers. Those costs are absorbed by others, and are factored into bank structures like fees,

Hah, brilliant. They can take their guns with them, to protect them from home invasions and a tyrannical government.

I agree, now that I’ve taken the time to listen to her and read some of her policies (particularly regarding student debt loan forgiveness; I used the calculator). She needs much more coverage, and this speech is a good start.

He ain’t squeezing through any physical holes, that’s for sure.

Be Best or Don’t, I Really Don’t Care, Do U?

I read this thread, jesus. No wonder men are panicking, social media did them no favors by outing all their gross shit and giving women the platform to stop putting up with it. I truly wonder about the minds of men sometimes, like, you have unlimited access to free, consensual, online porn...this powertripping shit is

Thank you, that’s an important perspective. I did not understand it that way, but what you say makes sense considering her trajectory as a character and a woman.

Well, Renly and all, but fair enough. These are fictional characters, but speaking for myself, I found that scene out of touch with who I thought Brienne was, particularly because she valued Jaime’s opinion of her above all.

I think Tyrion was only great at Blackwater (and in any situation) because he had a trick up his sleeve. He knew more than Stannis due to the wildfire, but he hasn’t had any inside knowledge for a long time, except now, regarding Jon’s birthright. As a fair, thoughtful ruler, yes, I agree.

For the sake of a narrative argument though, the show is far past the book in these character arcs. So it seems quite fitting that when faced with the fact that Cersei is truly in danger, he bolts back to her. He does know she’s pregnant with his child, after all. However, he could still end up killing her or siding

I disagree about Jaime, I think it’s right on character for him to be unable to break from his abuser. I think a total redemption arc would have been too contrived for Jaime, he was always going to backslide into his norms, because he has low self-esteem and that’s what people with low self-esteem do. Also, Arya

Sansa doesn’t have to beat Cersei, she has to play her, politically. She knows Cersei has no interest in the North, and she knows that she has a lot more Northern allies now than she did before, including beyond the Wall. Dany, however, wants everyone to bend to her will, including the North, whereas Cersei is savvier

True, and I get it. But I don’t think tv Dany grew up and evolved as one would expect. She became more entitled and petty, which, going back to the OP point about how this show writes women, tracks.
