One of the hardest things I’ve ever done was admit to myself and my counselor that I was, in fact, an addict who needed help. Overcoming and swallowing your shame can be a killer.

Thank you. I owe it to a very caring brother and sister (we’ve had to look out for each other), or I’d be dead two or three times over.
As a recovered alcoholic I can say please get medical help if you stop drinking. I had to be hospitalized three days before going to rehab to prevent this. Don’t be ashamed, and don’t think you can automatically do it on your own.
They’re going to be proud parents to a beautiful baby Prince.
But maybe the fact that she kept him for four years means that she tried a bunch of things and didn’t give up on him easily? There is a charitable interpretation of this.
I have had a foster dog for 3 years. He can’t leave, and I can’t formally adopt him yet because of his behavioral issues. He was gentle and friendly in the shelter— because he’s an extremely sensitive dog, and when you separate him from me, he shuts right down. The rescue and I have worked with 3 dog trainers, and…
You are not wrong AT ALL:
You earned your star at the passing bus. I laughed which is a nice remedy for this political depression.
Is it just me or is the new director of the CDC...not terrible? A pro-vax advocate who thinks that abortion should be a decision between a woman and her doctor is about the best we could hope for under this administration.
YEAH!
Okay but real talk, the video for Cream was the final push into puberty for me.
That was way harsh, Tai. *snicker*
This. This. This. As a mom that no longer drinks, it’s incredibly annoying and pretty sad.
Congrats on your sobriety. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors of even the most successful women.
All dogs need the life you described. Yes, pits being strong, intelligent, focused dogs can be a bad thing if they are encouraged to fight and/or bite. Most people also seem to think there is no difference between dog aggressiveness and people aggressiveness. Those people are wrong. Again, pits are not for everyone…
This sounds like my kind of town. Pro drinking and a doggy mayor?
Yeah, no matter how much you talk about the facts to people, though, they will still spout the same rhetoric about how all pit bulls are going to “snap” and kill you one day. I understand why people think that, but I just hate misinformation, especially since the consequences are so dire for perfectly good dogs.
Thanks for this. I worked at a veterinary clinic in a pitbull-heavy area, and I met a grand total of one who was aggressive toward humans.
Sure, I get being afraid of certain dogs. I have developed a fear of large German Shepherds, just because there is a giant, dog-aggressive one in my building and another crazy one with a questionable owner in my neighborhood. It’s an involuntary, uncomfortable, physical reaction that I would like not to have.
I’d call and tell the manager you’re really unhappy and the outcome is not at all what you asked for. They should offer to fix it for free. That could involve just using a nice dark toner to make the highlights a lot subtler.
