Yes I know some people can’t even do grocery shopping alone, etc.. Yes some people need real life people, some one even told me when she had 2 kids, she did so she won’t have to do thing on her own and called people who don’t have kids selfish. Me on the other hand, ok taking vacations alone.

I’m just a lowly almost-30-year-old, but I think one of the most useful things my retired dad ever told me was “the only people my age who actually still need to work for money are people who have been divorced”. I realize that’s a fairly privileged outlook and there are lots of people both single and married who have

My boyfriend and I were once told by his neighbor (a man in his 60s who seems to be in a very miserable marriage) that we need to get married and have a kid soon because “who’s gonna take care of you?” I was like, “That’s a really selfish reason to have children. I’m gonna go with a hard NO on that one, have a great

Why do people not get this? Yeah I know what they believe. How many people know why, straight from the horses mouth? It’s a fucking documentary, not a manifesto.

Objectivity putting out harmful and repugnant views is not objective.

I see them here in California. The first time I saw it was a year ago on the Fourth of July. I don’t see a lot of them, but maybe a few times a month. Always young white guys in pickups with big wheels and the chassis jacked up (don’t know my truck terminology, sorry) and a big confederate flag flying from the truck

Have you ever seen a documentary? Legitimate documentaries present information objectively, they don’t glorify anything. More knowledge is never bad.

We have a documentaries/reality shows on drug lords, neo-Nazis, serial killers and every other brand of human horror. Just check out the National Geographic and Discovery channels. It’s not like television is full of non-fictional shows about saints. Why can we have shows about the behind the scenes goings on of drug

Legitimately asking: A&E is also doing Remini’s expose on Scientology that is clear about its dangers and problems, sort of as a guide to how people have gotten out, and how you might get your family out. If A&E did the same with hate groups, might it be worth our time?

I suppose the focus in this scenario would have

I agree. I wanted to see it. Had I watched it and thought it was glamorizing the KKK in any way I would have stopped but I was interested in a peek behind the sheet. It does seem important to know that this goes on and how in order to try to change it. I believe there was one woman in the trailer who was no longer

They’re not entirely stupid about it. When they propose these things they generally backdate them so that the people who are over about 55 now won’t be affected by the changes. And there’s nothing a boomer likes as much as collecting their rewards while screwing over the younger generations.

I have filled these threads with quotes from my one (thankfully just one) Trump-supporting acquaintance, but here I go again: “Well, I paid into the system!” Sigh.

A lot of them don’t. One of the late night TV shows did one of those person-in-the-street interviews, and discovered that while people don’t like “Obamacare,” they sure to like the ACA. And they don’t know that it’s the same thing.

It’s kind of like letting a kid hurt themselves a little so they finally learn why you keep saying “no.” You can keep slapping their hand away from the (metaphorical) wasp but eventually they’ll get stung and then they’ll figure out that maybe you shouldn’t mess with the nasty, stinging insect after all.

Many of them do not actually understand that the ACA is the same thing as Obamacare, actually.

It’s not a matter of other people vs. yourself. It’s a matter of people who are suffering as a direct result of their own actions vs. people who are suffering through no fault of their own.

I read an article in the Washington Post the other day that mentioned a woman and her husband, who both get health insurance through Obamacare. The husband is on the list for a liver transplant. They both voted for Trump. And the wife was like, “Wait, he’s really going to cut Obamacare? I thought that was just talk!

Literally every Trump voter:

No you’re not, but this country is built on the power being distributed amongst the states. Would you argue that California should have more senators? What’s good for the LA to San Francisco corridor isn’t nessecarily what’s good for Eastern California or Vermont or etc etc. Local and densely populated areas tend to
