I did exactly that - under "Other" security system I listed "Manual Transmission immobilization device" and bingo it got me an additional 10%!

People always talk about the decline of the manual transmissions, but dang it, it's a useful life skill. You never know when you're going to be stuck out with someone who DOES have a manual car who's too drunk/tired/whatever to drive it.

my parents, in their infinite wisdom, decided that my brother and I would learn how to drive stick.

I just bought myself a Jeep as a college graduation present. I didn't know how to drive a stick but was determined I was going to learn dammit. The salesman kept trying to talk me out of it because "a lot of ladies prefer automatics." Uhm no dick head I want a fucking stick and a 4x4!!!

That is how I get rid of pushy car salesmen when I'm browsing - ask them if they have this car in a stick. They neeeeverrrr have.

The last car I bought was a stick. My salesman couldn't drive it.

I returned to my stick-shift Toyota Corolla post-workout to find the door jimmed, the drivers seat thrown back and the steering wheel tilted down. The poor dear got so close to felony vehicle theft but for my manual transmission. Yes, it is a theft detergent and should be compensated accordingly.

Auto insurance policies should list a manual transmission as a theft deterrent.

I thought the first thing when I read the headline, but click through to the statement from the designer. It's actually really awesome - a lot safer and better for patient interactions.

Why? This is an actual awesome thing. They're improving on the product.

Wait—maybe I'm reading the article wrong, but I thought this designer wanted to actually do something useful, so she's designing an actual Ebola protection suit that is better than what is currently available.

Right? Because Africa was so pro homosexual before today's modern conservative missionaries. The African Anglican Church split with the great Anglican Union over the issue of homosexuality. The Episcopalians now ordain homosexuals and perform homosexual unions but the Africans were having none of it. That's not a

"They" did. All the people that did those things are dead and I doubt very much that any of us know who their descendants are.

That's something I've never understood. People have done terrible things in the name of all manner of things. Almost every religious group has committed crimes because they felt their religion justified it. But that's not an attack on religion. Secularists have committed terrible acts in the name of their beliefs.

I'm a fan of the Eisenhower-style Republican: We run the Government, you run your lives.

I think the particular economics of maternity leave are perfect to illustrate the difficulty of implementing some of the demands that are made on employers, and not because it is related to women, so don't go accusing me of misogyny because this is about economics.

Holy god, that was the most canned, rehearsed-sounding speech I've heard in a long while. The tone and cadence were pure Sally Struthers PSA. I kept expecting her to tell us that for just pennies a day, we could ensure that poor Iowa school children would have more than one pair of shoes.

I'm a fat person. I watched exactly ONE episode of this show.

No people will die from heart disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular problems all of which have a high correlation to obesity because they are generally caused by behaviors that lead to obesity. Altering those behaviors is the key to healthier people, and Biggest Looser with it's predilection towards starvation diets,

The one episode of ANTM that confused me was the one where they had two models doing the shoot in the freezing pool. The girl, who I think eventually won, literally had chattering teeth! Tyra kept pushing her — "Swimsuit shoots are always done in the winter!" — but then I think the girl had to go to the hospital?
