I thought Crytek was one of the industry leading companies. How could something like this happen to them? I really hope they don't have to switch to making free to play games only. Picturing a company like Crytek not making triple A console and pc games just isn't right.

I feel like whenever someone makes a really long and elaborately detailed comment, very few people notice. It's really sad.

How does a company like Crytek end up in a situation like this?

I think they would have done better than making a character that looks like a random player customized it. If it's not Gohan, then these guys suck or didn't care about creating their new character.

Games like this always make me wonder what kind of background the player's character has. You play as this guy who's all alone and exploring the vast universe. Any other players are supposedly so far away that encounters will be rare.

True, but most current gamers like to make a big deal out of that line which really exists in all media. That's why this split between people and their level of appreciation has become such a big thing. In this early phase of gaming culture, we are like rebellious teens, which is causing this sort of discrimination.
