Not only does it set a terrible precedent, as you noted, but also make those Republicans own that support. There is positive political capital to be gained in 2020 by forcing Republicans to own their support of the President.

Normally all time greats wait until they retire before they tarnish their legacy.

Realistically they’re mostly so protected from the actual outcome of climate change that it won’t matter to them. So while likely less lucrative in the long term, it’s easier and more readily available to just continue the status quo and leverage whatever benefits you can to make more money.

I agree completely. It’s unfortunate but it appears that it is effectively a career ending injury of sorts. I hope I’m wrong but being afraid to jump in basketball is about as bad as it gets.

I know the dude has a legit reason, grotesquely breaking his leg, but Hayward has regressed more than any player I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s extremely disheartening, but he’s arguably sub replacement level at this point.

This is very true! I made a mistake of assuming if he does show up he’ll be some form of supernatural being considered he died thousands of years ago. Take that for what you will, but I would amend my comment to be that “if The Night’s King ever shows up, Martin will have the same issue as the show has with the Night

I understand that completely and that was my point. The resolution to the threat, regardless the medium, was never going to land because of what the threat represented and how much the nature of that story conflicts with the story south of the wall. While the Night’s King and the Night King are different, I don’t know

The Night’s King in the books, for as little as we know about him, and the Night King in the show both are such a conflict with the larger narrative established in both the books/show.

Honestly, I was someone who originally accepted the AG summation *until* the report did come out. And the report very literally lays out multiple instances of obstruction while also noting they did not indict the President due to the standing position of the DOJ that a sitting President can’t be indicted and thus

That’s from DOJ officials, though. That’s the whole issue, everything being framed as Mueller agreeing with the DOJ is coming from the DOJ. With all of this, what gives anyone any confidence they aren’t just saying that to alleviate concerns? Let’s have Mueller himself confirm that statement rather than take it as

I’m not 100% opposed but it better be someone not at risk to be viewed as average less than a decade later. I mean to compare some of the former Washington players he listed to Mickey Fucking Mantle is hilarious.

I like that the DOJ spokesperson is claiming that in the conversation between Mueller and Barr that Mueller didn’t object to the letter.

I like how Florio’s original proposition is basically blackmail. Blackmail in what would be a failed attempt to circumvent the Constitution.

Wohl and Burkman are killing the political thriller genre.

If it’s any consolation (probably not) I’m also an Arsenal fan. A beaten down and defeated Arsenal fan that has swung far too deeply into cynicism.

At this point the 2016 GOP Primary is really the best comparison (although not completely the same because of delegate allocation) for 2020. When you have this many people involved, there is no focused attacks and a really broad expanse of potential candidates.

I jokingly noted about 6 weeks ago that Arsenal had by far the easiest run of games to close the season and looked very much like they’d finish 3rd, so of course they’d finish 6th.

Always nice to listen to people complain that discourse is so terrible simply because the average person now has a means to voice their opinion.

I think this review is pretty spot on, although I’m not bothered by some of the concerns here. I think the Night King and The Long Night was always this elemental threat more so than some standard army to be defeated. And the show did a great job of actually framing it like that, with him bringing the literal storm

We make fun of Gruden and Mayock for freezing out their scout team and all that but with guys like Gettlemen and others leading other franchises that continue to do stupid stuff, there weirdly may be value in doing so.
