*Waits for 4-5 Jez writers to tell you how dumb you are*

I am experiencing (maybe witnessing?) significant cognitive dissonance at everyone talking about how awful reddit is, when gawker media as a whole, including all sites—writers and commenters—while having many positives—isn’t exactly a fount of enlightened thought.

According to some on Jezebel I, a black woman, am supposed to be happy for a young black girl who is working for a known racist and an overall shitty human being. Hilarious.

Lmao @ you not seeing the irony of using a Tina Fey gif.

Lmao and this is why Jezebel is labeled a white feminist space. You will cape for a rich racist white woman and think that a young black girl who’s father is a president deserves to work with her.

There’s nothing impressive about a rich, sheltered white woman becoming even more rich by creating movies and TV shows that are somewhat based on her privileged life.

And the pro-Lena Dunham brigade on Jezebel begins to pounce.

Nope, she deserves better. Lena Dunham is overrated.

She deserves better than working with Lena Dunham.

It is the new “I didn’t know I was white”.

I kind of wish this entire comments section would die in a dumpster fire.

I knew I was fucking poor, let me tell you. And those “I didn’t know we were rich” people sure reminded me how fucking poor I was. And I’m not even talking really rich people, either. Middle-middle class to upper middle class (in a place with very low housing costs) people were very happy to judge. Constantly.

Trenchant analysis of class relations.

How bloody bold of you!

It all feels so unnecessarily self-congratulatory.

It’s called privilege and this delusion that their wealth is not evident in every way to other people.

This is such a perfect metaphor for celebrity. Hard to know anything about people when you’re looking down on them, but you can still use them for some quick, cheap personal branding.

Good. Because I was just thinking “how will this decision affect Lena Dunham?”.

Lena Dunham, the perfect candidate to make gay marriage about herself.
