On one hand, this is so nice and kind. On the other, it sickens me that this is how we have to fund public education in this country.

I have good luck with a scalp treatment from Lush called Roots. I use it every other week or so and just use regular shampoo.

We stayed in a hotel in the Poconos a few years ago and our room had a round bed (and a mirrored ceiling! and a heart shaped jacuzzi!). I wondered the same thing about the sheets. Turns out, the hotel just skillfully tucked a big flat sheet around the mattress. The flat sheet was also just a big square.

I love it when children are dressed like children instead of mini adults.

I also made a pureed cauliflower soup this week, but I used this recipe, subbing veggie broth for the water and doubling the garlic. The soup was an unpleasant tan color, but it was delicious. My husband got my name tattooed on his arm as a surprise a few years ago. The other day the nurse gave him a flu shot right on the “A” and then taped over my whole name with a bandaid. I guess that’s an option if our marriage goes south.

My copy was waiting on my front porch when I got home today! I hope everyone leaves me alone so I can read it tonight!

I almost never have good luck with dried beans, no matter how long I soak or cook them.

This weekend, I went to a Greek Festival with my mother-in-law, her cousin, and her cousin’s daughter. Three of us got the same horrible henna tattoo of a seahorse. We carefully wrapped them before bed and they all smeared into weird black blobs. My seahorse looks like it’s pooping a fireball.

Palazzo pants look GREAT on my plus-sized sister in law, who is small on top and has big butt, hips, and thighs. I, on the other hand, while also plus-sized, look even shorter and wider because of my broad shoulders and apple shape. We are both about 5'2".
