I am opposed to the death penalty. I would prefer to see these perpetrators remain in prison for life. But at least justice was served. That is something.

Here’s my reasoning on the death penalty: it doesn’t serve justice. It’s not just for the state to kill someone. It guarantees the criminal extensive rights to appeal, which can reopen old wounds for victims’ families, and costs taxpayers WAY, WAY more money than a lifetime of incarceration does.
