My dad’s family has lived in Nashville since 1949. I didn’t say it was progressive. I said it was more progressive than you realize or are giving it credit for, certainly compared to the rest of the state. Centrist IS progressive for Tennessee.

I’m not arguing that climate change isn’t a dead serious existential threat. It is. But killing the filibuster to pass some bills related to climate change is not the way to address climate change.

It is exactly as melodramatic as stated. It’s absurd to talk about killing a procedural tool because it can be used to stop bills that Blest would like to see passed. The filibuster is not a mechanism that only the GOP can deploy, after all. Climate change is a life or death situation, yes, but killing the filibuster…

You can’t just call for eliminating the filibuster because you don’t like it when it’s used against policies you support. The “LGBT lifestyle” is a) not a thing and b) not something you are asked to agree or disagree with because it is simply another person’s way of being. You don’t get to have opinions on how other people exist. If you have brown eyes, I don’t get to say or even feel that I don’t agree with brown eyes.
