This man's voice and songwriting changed the way I thought about music. I always wanted everything to be abrasive and angular as fuck, and Rob can do that too if he wants, but his voice is just angelic. He can make a song about how homework stinks bring tears.

What's weird, though, is the 5.98 EP they did with Jason before Justice has tons of bass…it was almost like they were showing off their new bass player ("Crash Course in Brain Surgery," "The Small Hours"). I'm still not sure why they waited one record to haze him..?

It's funny how time has given the band the perspective to consider "Master of Puppets" their masterpiece. In the 90's, they played a half-assed 4:00 version at concerts to make room for their then-current garbage music. They are largely clueless about what audiences want, but I'm glad they at least see this album as a

Jurassic Park was actually "Jurass-has-had-it Park," if I remember correctly. which took me a really long time to parse as a kid. Jurassic Barf would've been a homerun.

I agree 100%, but the graphic design for this is what makes it seem much more overblown. The words NEVER WORKED in massive text, and the black-and-white actor heads make them look simultaneously clownish and smug.

I agree, and I think the show overall has gotten too mythology heavy. The season 5(?) finale, at the prom…that episode had hardly any laughs and was mostly characters talking Incredibly fast to fit in all the plot machinations. I think the balace of gags-plot is a little better this season, though.

I remember Scott Van Pelt frequently voicing his disdain of fantasy sports on his show 2-3 years ago. Fast forward to 6months ago, every ESPN Radio show had a fantasy segment, and every personality had a fantasy team or league at the mothership website. It was probably the most naked and pathetic product placement

Nevermind. Not super-excited by this line-up but I'll give the album a spin.

The secretive nature of this announcement makes me think Doug may be back, at least for the show. An album where Bob plays all the instruments- which he doesn't even do on his solo albums- is a very odd move I'm not sure I'm into.

Totally agreed. I can see/hear the musical value in a lot of the classic outsider stuff: Wesley Willis, Shooby Taylor, etc. I have never found any nugget of interesting music made by the Shaggs.

He is fond of including off-putting violence toward animals (usually dogs) in his movies. I'll have to check doesthedogdie.com before peeping this one.

It's the feeling of ownership they have about EVERYTHING. They don't enjoy art or respect artists…they go into a film/book/comic expecting it to conform to specific standards and preconceptions. Any art that actually challenges them "rapes their childhood" or "doesn't understand [fictional character with 20

Actually, if I recall correctly, he recently went into a Charlottesville GameStop and assaulted the manager with pepper spray because Chris himself didn't approve of the blasphemous protrayal of Sonic the Hedgehog in a certain new Sonic game. What people did to him online is cruel, but as people said upthread, he is

"Fair Touching," "Things I Will Keep", "Avalanche Aminos"…

What are your thoughts on Ryen Rusillo? I like him, and he guest hosted Olbermann a couple times recently. The way he spoke about it on radio, I got the idea they might be grooming him to take over for KO.

This is partly true for sure, but the Dissolve offered a counterpoint in the form of humorless thinkpieces and constant SELF PROMOTION THREAD!s.

That's really sad. It was occassionally a cool site, but the commentariat was no fun, and way too into self-promotion if their own weak film blogs. The writing was too often half a dozen ultra serious thinkpieces per day.

Because cooperate is a difficult word to read without them?

I really hate that commenter here who put umlauts over every word with 2 consecutive vowels. He even does it for fucking y's!
