The BMW i3 operates this way. I had one of those for a multi-day test drive and found it to be a really pleasant way to drive. I eventually bought a Chevy Volt, which sort of does this when shifted to Low, but the regen isn’t as aggressive. It’s ideal for stop and go or slow and go traffic.
