I have a feeling a lot of this has to do with self-confidence. People who think themselves ugly could be more prone to having lower self-confidence. Lower self-confidence could lead to not learning as easily as others, or not pushing themselves to the same level as people with good self-confidence.

I think this is a pretty interesting system. With the current report system, nobody believes the reports will arrive to the devs. Most likely they will be ignored, unless a large amount of people have complained on that particular player. So in other words, he'd have to be a jerk repeatedly to get noticed by the team.
