What? No Popful Mail? THE Platformer/RPG?
What? No Popful Mail? THE Platformer/RPG?
I bought Plok a few years ago and just wasn't impressed by it...not to say it was bad, but it certainly wasn't a hidden gem imo. I always got stuck on one level in the game because you have to hunt down and kill fleas, but I could never find them all.
As soon as I read the title, I immediately thought of Mischief Makers. Loved that game.
The Kid Dracula Game Boy title was a sequel to a Japan-only NES game known as Demon Castle Special: I'm Kid Dracula, which released in 1990. Much of Kid Dracula's charm comes from the fact when Konami made the game to basically poke fun at its own franchise. There are some wonderful callbacks to previous Castlevania…
Dracula, lord of the night, master of demons and monsters alike! It's hard to believe he could ever have a child this cute. It's also hard to believe that Kid Dracula is actually an official Castlevania spin-off. But it's true.
Speaking of Megadrive/Genesis, James Pond 2 : Codename Robocod, El Viento, Alisia Dragoon come to mind.
Tomba and Wario Land are well deserved entries on this list
Tomba was such an amazingly good game though (nostalgia glasses - WAY on). I still have it in my shelf.
adding Freedom Planet to my wishlist now!
Anyone remembers this little gem here:
I got Rocket in a weird bundle pack from an ad I saw in Nintendo Power. It was an Ubisoft bundle and for $20 you got 3 N64 titles: Rocket, Rayman and some other title that came with a plush of it's character. Toxic Trouble? Had a Rayman-esqe purple-headed main character?
DECAP ATTACK
GARGOYLE'S QUEST SERIES
There were great platformers on other systems like the Amiga. Superfrog was one of the best games!
I bought a Virtual Boy at Target on clearance for $16 and WarioLand for $5. Best $21 I had ever spent. Can't remember how many times I beat WarioLand, but going back to it reminded me how great it really was. Best WarioLand game IMO.
