This stings.

Finally had time to get to the last season of my favorite show of recent years “Man in the High Castle.” Surprised it took me months to get to this season, but I found it very satisfying, like, moreso than I thought I would. I’d rank the seasons as thus, from best down: 2, 4, 3, 1... and that was always the thing

This. Especially with the bootleg series, you do wonder why he didn’t include certain songs on his albums, and-as the other poster pointed out-release them as singles. It’s like, in an alternate universe, he would’ve been a consistent hit-maker even in (shudder!) the ‘80s.

To show what he meant to the Fangoria crowd, I remember the magazine was touting some movie in the late ‘80s (“Prison”?), and they joked “Is is true? Did Empire actually make a good movie, without Stuart Gordon?”

Reminds me of the kid in “Infinite Jest” who wants to be a sportscaster and speaks into his fist.

Also, no one’s mentioned this?:

My father and I were once talking about the practice of speaking in song lyrics, and he told a story about how in the early days of his profession, a coworker told another coworker, “You know Bob, it comes down to this: you gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em... et al.” Supposedly the one coworker was

Sort of along-the-lines anecdote:

That was also the thing that always got me: the so-and-so sales always went up ‘30 percent’... just the consistency of that stat made me think the show was probably bullshit (I know, I know, ‘a reality show that’s not real?! Say it ain’t so!’)

This sounds pretty good and I’ll probably watch it. For me, a big step, as while “Plot Against America” is my second-favorite Roth book, “American Pastoral” was my favorite, and that being the case I decided early on that I would steer way clear of the movie (and from everything I heard it sounds like I was right).

Actually, going by the standard of the last AV Club article on Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders should heretofore be referred to as “Bernie Sanders, who is most famous for running two failed presidential campaigns.”

Not that anyone cares, but I’m checking out for tonight. Given the state I was already in w/the news of the last few hours, I was teetering, but this article drove me over the edge re: yeah, I’ll just have to process this shit tomorrow.

I still don’t get it.

The sorrow grows bigger when the sorrow’s denied... dude.

Pete Buttigieg, who is most famous for running a failed presidential campaign...”

Man this is not going to have aged well, but when I think about what movie I’ve most quoted and people I know have most quoted, it would be “Menace II Society.” There’s not even a close second. When I was in college the university had this channel that would just show 10 movies a month on a continuous loop, and after

Joe Biden did indeed say that... 46 years ago. In the intervening decades he has become a target of of anti-abortion activists, including holding a 0% score from the National Right to Life Committee.

I’m almost loathe to bring this up, because I liked “Chernobyl” so much and this guy clearly doesn’t want to be known for this now, but Craig Mazin is the guy you probably heard about who was college freshmen roommates with Ted Cruz, and would dish all sorts of unflattering stories about the senator... which to me

Somewhat unrelated, but am reading “A Very Stable Genius,” and I guess when Trump and his lawyers were having their boiler-room sessions about the Russia investigation, Ivanka would routinely just wander in and basically, “Hey guys, whatcha doing?” and Trump would coo over her and the lawyers would just stop talking

Twenty-two years ago, this was satire:
