Very cool. It’s funny how if you’re of a certain age almost everyone can remember a horror night theme unique to a regional station where they grew up.

This made me think of the Canadian (?) DJs who pranked Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign, by posing as the French President, Sarkozy...

Let them eat cake... bundt.

One night when I was 12 HBO showed SLEEPAWAY CAMP. I only knew that it was a slasher-in-the-woods that had been forgotten since its release three years earlier. Every indication pointed to it being a forgettable knock-off indistinguishable from the dozens of other slashers released in the early ‘80s. But because I’d

I was pleasantly surprised by “Calypso,” especially after concluding that Sedaris was spent out following the forced quirkiness of “Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls.” It turns out middle-age and mortality suits his weird family vis-a-vis revitalizing his essays.

In college Lynch roomed with Peter Wolf, the eventual singer for the J. Geils Band...

My favorite cinematic example of that concept is from “Spinal Tap,” when Nigel goes off on his rant about the food, becomes so emotional the manager needs to talk him down and he ends by saying “But I’ll rise above it. I’m a professional.”

It’s mind-boggling that these guys think they can just be disgusting fascists by day and that once we’re all off the clock it’s all good.”

Jeez, wasn’t aware of all the bad history with that band. Knew about the shooting, of course, but not the estrangement with the singer, etc. Guess that explains why they dropped off the radar after “Far Beyond Driven.”

I consider the Golden Age of horror to be from roughly the mid-’70s to the mid-’80s (I’d peg it as ending in ‘85, i.e., the Year of the Zombie).

the original Nightbreed was a huge flop for Barker,”

Something that’s important to remember, IMO, is that to die-hard Trump supporters who voted for him and think he’s doing a great job, this family separation thing is good. It’s not the bad consequence of a good thing, it itself is good.

“About eight of their representatives were watching it. I thought they were fascinated by it...” - Trump

Knock on wood, but I cautiously believe the media have FINALLY abandoned that the-rest-of-us-have-a-duty-to-reach-out-and-understand-Trump-supporters narrative.

Having heard of its reputation, I rented “Audition” and wasn’t nearly as shocked by it as some people said they were. I got the gist, sure, but it seemed rather tame. There really weren’t any particular scenes that jumped out at me.

“The Social Justice Warriors,” in which college kids...

Surely that’s the worst instance of someone from reality television going on to hold public office.

Think Poochie.

Look up what happened to “Puck” in the intervening years. Even by the standards of a reality-show-has-been it’s pretty bad.
