I thought of That Thing You Do! while watching this movie, even though this movie holds off its big hit for the grand finale, rather than playing it repeatedly throughout the movie to initially delightful and then increasingly maddening effect. All in all, I prefer hearing “That Thing You Do!” a dozen or so times to

Obviously that’s not true; I call someone a “footballer” right there in the review!

There’s a pretty popular worship service called the “U2Charist” that sets a traditional Episcopalian liturgy of communion and word to all U2 songs and it had a VERY big moment a few years ago. I think you’d be hard pressed to find US Christians who actively object to U2 beyond the strict subcultures that object to

I come from a big christian music town, and for all the people over, say, 40 who do that, U2 hit them like a ton of bricks. U2 WAS a christian act as far as they were concerned — expressly religious, singing about moral issues, etc. Evangelicals ate it up. I couldn’t possibly care less about this ridiculous band or

He’s the best guitar player I’ve seen live (in a 2300 venue). It’s as if the guitar was an extension of his body.

Plus that song is all funk despite having no bass line at all. It’s my all time favorite.

The guitar blast at the beginning of When Doves Cry is absolute nonsense and absolute brilliance.

I saw him in Atlanta on the “Purple Rain” tour, during the ultimate peak of his Prince-ness- #1 album, #1 single, the movie was a hit, etc. The solo he played on “Purple Rain” to end the show is the most mind-blowing thing I’ve ever seen someone do live. Spectacular. (I found a bootleg of it 30 years later, and I

He just looks so fucking cool doing it, too. Completely effortless.

bulge size is mostly determined by ball diamter. and of course if you have a flesh or a blood penis.

Best part is the look on his face. He usually looked kind of serious during performances. Here you can tell he *knows* this thing is taking off big. It’s so good, he can’t help but grin. Pure joy of performance.

i occasionally pull up this clip to watch/listen to just because of how awesome the prince solo was. never gets old.

I remember thinking this was the ugliest movie I’d ever seen, because everything was jaundice-ass yellow. (at the time, I’m not sure if “baleful sepia” would’ve been in my vocabulary.)

Actually, he’s done a number of live-action films. Some are wonderfully weird (e.g. The Red Spectacles), others are just bad (e.g. Assault Girls.)

I enjoyed this movie when it came out, haven’t watched it in a long time. The soundtrack was really good.

Benoit was always on the Network, he’s just not searchable.

This is really lovely. Thank you for sharing it.

“Congratulations Mandy Rose on winning the Fabulous Moolah Battle Royal! How does it feel knowing that if Moolah were alive, she would have stolen your money and tried to pimp you out because she felt threatened by you?”

Congratulations! I love the messages you took from the show. Change comes from all places, not just political activism, but pop culture, too. My husband often takes the kids out while I’m working, and he sees just as many dads doing the same as moms. This wasn’t true 10 years ago with our eldest. You’ve got this!
