That was a delight. I love Suze and pretend-Suze so much! And she was the only one who got parodied at all and loved it. (Though to be fair, kids would get more upset about such a thing.)

The episode title? This made me insane. I suppose it could be a play on the Artaud title and not just the actual thing, and does mean “it is double?” I’m trying here.
I adored her in One Mississippi and honestly didn’t even recognize her. Total chameleon.
Truly. And sure, most teens wouldn’t pull the “terminal brain disorder” ruse, but whatever less heightened-for-fiction version of the lie a real adolescent would tell in its place has been committed to and turned back around on its target hundreds of times just today, somewhere in the world.
Okay, glad I’m not losing it! Even the Jules thing was not inching toward personal growth for him. A good person would not have used it for brownie points, or even made her aware of its existence. He got it to save his own future wealth and could’ve just destroyed it.
Too late to edit, but of course I mean “deserved everything Rue said to her”
Ohhhh, interesting. I was wondering why the lingering closeup on the digital clock but I was hung up on the time, not looking elsewhere. Maybe she installed it in there after catching Maddy snooping last time, I really hope that’s all it is. Their pool conversation actually felt like a potential growth moment, so that…
Wait, Minka Kelly’s character has been watching Maddy undress? I clearly blinked and missed something!
That was crushing. Incredible performance in that, too. As well as Rue’s phone call at the beginning.
Man, I watched this episode thinking, “Good, after this people will stop being outraged we’re in a Nate redemption arc, he’s clearly as monstrous as ever!” but... the internet disagrees with me. (Happens a lot!) Kinda like last week when I was completely heartbroken for Jules, went to Twitter, and saw everyone saying…
I’m incredibly disappointed that Kathryn Hunter didn’t get nominated for that one.
My sense is that Laurie lost her ability to have any actual feelings long ago, and that giving her that huge suitcase was a win/win. She’d either make a ton of money off it, or get a new soldier.
True, and I suppose eventually if they dust for prints we’ll cycle back to it... but this doesn’t seem like that type of show, somehow.
That was really brutal.
It was the first episode that felt really honest the whole way through, just ugly and raw and real, and then they did that wacky chase. I guess they wanted to lighten things up for one act since that’s typically how the show operates, but I kind of wanted this one to be its own thing.
I’m not sure she’s in legal trouble (yet) because how would the cops know who she was?
I think the scene with the police chasing her did imply something about race. If they’d caught a girl that looked like Cassie puking on the road like that, they would’ve tried to help her and/or no such chase would’ve ensued.
It’s not a work ethic, it’s a technique. People who don’t approach it this way (and I assure you most actors don’t) aren’t somehow lower on work ethic. (I mean, they might be, but not because of this!)
Back when I was in college the drama department did a production of The African Company Presents Richard III and the undergrad who played the antagonist, the racist producer, used to prep for showtime by wandering up and down the halls saying the N-word under his breath.
I think what he did to his family in this episode was pretty unspeakably villainous, though. And even the poor guy dancing with him at the bar!
