I have to say I was Team Sam with the husband coming home. The second the men walked in (“were you talking about sex? men??”), the joy was over. Lala cleared the plates (they weren’t even done!). Rachel True’s character started inviting the men to join them for dessert, etc. Totally killed the vibe.

Unless it’s Blaine, inexplicably.

Isn’t she a millennial, though? I thought they were like 24-40, and I’d put her around 39 or 40.

But it has a skeleton that doesn’t soften in water.

You’re back! Hooray!

Why are y’all pretending you still cover Better Things? Why?? It’s mean!

But he was bleeding everywhere

I never understand how on TV shows people talk about green card marriages like they just have to marry, convince immigration in a couple interviews, and then bam, green card! Depending on the state, it’s 3-5 years. So Alba and Jorge are just going to spend a few years living together and then go their separate ways,

I think it was just her passive aggressive way of telling Gwen she’d been neglecting her daughter a bit, which was not really something I saw on  screen.

Yes, the beauty of the projectile vomiting bit was that it had been established before. It would’ve been amusing on its own in this episode, but since we knew what was going to happen it made it even funnier that they dialed it up by a thousand. I was dying.

So no woman ever rejected Fosse? Sure, Stephanie kneed him in the groin but came back later and invited him for a drink, knowing full well what that meant. (And Verdon says that Reinking doesn’t “need” to sleep with him, but then she does.)

Yeah, I’ve been really bothered by Aya Cash in this, which is disappointing. She feels like a sketch comedy impersonation of a movie character from the 40s or something.

That’s not uncommon though, right? The parent that does the least parenting is the most beloved because (a) they’re the bigger novelty and (b) they do none of the discipline or the boring day-to-day and therefore no matter how lousy that parent is, they adore the kid’s adoration. If that makes sense. Also, she’s the

I’m very excited about Gwen Verdon coming back from the great beyond to do an AV Club recap!

Yep. When I saw it listed here I thought “yay! she must’ve just had a week off!” but today... nothin’. I guess that’s it.

Fair. They don’t really use Earth logic ‘round those parts. It was just funny that after she said it, Hiram had this “ahhhh, very persuasive” look and Veronica had her usual smug “knew that would work!” smirk. I mean just... huh?

What happened to last week’s Better Things coverage?

This was a good episode, but here’s what I’m really struggling with this season: we’ve spent more time watching people be sad that Michael is alive than we watched them be sad he was dead. It’s weird. Can we get a Brogelio scene up in here so that someone — anyone — can be unequivocally glad that a decent man loved by

But also could someone explain to me why “think of the publicity” convinced Hiram to ....move a notorious serial killer into nice digs with a river view? I get that having a serial killer in his private prison would be good for business or whatever, but specifically moving him into a cushy cell as a PR boon made no
