Recognizing other people's emotions is not the same as agreeing with them or changing your actions due to them. Just because I can see something makes you feel negatively does not mean empathy forces compliance. In fact, empathy can drive people to do things that make other people feel negatively.

Killing ones self and orphaning their child due to stupidity and ignorance is most certainly bad parenting. The only reason people are even attempting to argue against the facts illogically is because they feel bad because of the traumatic nature of the incident.

Don't forget one thing that slips past the Eco-mindedness of many Prius owners. Those massive lithium battery units contribute to a large amount of total pollution. Before the module ever makes it into the car, the raw, and partially assembled parts ship back and forth on the ocean, numerous times. It all adds up.
