Sorry, the 944S2 block was cast aluminum, never forged aluminum. It may have been lighter by 15 percent over the 944S (2.5 liter, 16 valve motor), but still heavier than the 944 (2.5 liter, 8 valve) motor.

While the Saab (900 series) may have a logical startup sequence, I have my own tale of woe to tell about the 900 I once owned...

A 944 clutch job is easy compared to a 944 turbo... shop estimates for a 944 is 8 to 10 hours, for a 944 turbo is 16 to 20 hours, if you don't break a bolt.
