Simple, Money and the human ego. If you were the people in charge of a multi billion dollar corporation and another group was stealing your work, regardless of how much or to what degree, you'd want them to stop too. Once you get to the top of the pyramid like that you'd don't give it up very easily.

I really doubt that's what the Olympics are doing for most people. How many people do you know who are going out and being active because of the Olympics compared to how many people you know who are sitting on their couch watching the Olympics?
