Cryptonomicon by Neil Stephenson is one of my favorite books. I dislikes Anathema, The Baroque Cycle was unreadable, and REAMDE was pretty OK, but I wonder what happened to the genius who wrote the dense, wonderful Cryptonomicon.
I started to read this interview in the voice of Fred Stoller for some reason.
"You kidding? I am Queens Boulevard."
What I want is the author who wrote 'American Tabloid' back. Where did he go?
when Britney is showing her friends Six around, what's with the emphasis on the god damn Craft services? Is that supposed to be a commentary on her non weight issue, or is that just meant to show how excited she is to be working With professional production?
OOOOH, Lifetime biopick. Sounds classy. Doesn't it?!?
Ugghhh: So I love PTA, and I rented 'Boogie Nights'. Well, doesn't my mom ask me, "do you want to watch a movie together? What did you just rent?"
Where is "The Stand" as a 3 part 3-hour 'Lord of The Rings' type theatrical treatment that we've been promised for years? Directed by, ooohhhhh, Paul Thomas Anderson (yeah right). I want it I want it I want it.
Well, maybe he's was fatherLY. I mean, having a creepy homoerotic relationship with a man who is near be your father's age is one thing. A full on homosexual relationship with your own biological father would be weird.
Sean,
That was one of the best articles I've ever read about the 90's pop-future. Thank you.
I read a book the other day that said that fire is hot. The worst part, though, is that the author did not site any sources.
I don't believe that they did have a minute timeline, becauseI know that some of the elements that were popular, such as the Dharma logo and the numbers, became popular with the audience and were Incorporated more into the mythology. I think even in the first half of the first season they changed course when they saw…
"and I don’t know if I would believe the writers if they said they had a clear timeline mapped out in the first half of the season."
Whatever you feel about the series, scrapping Cameron's OS was definitely the right move. It was gimmicky. Computers are supposed to run applications. I don't need it to be cute with me when I want to open an app. I want the app open as quickly as possible.
Yeah, apparently nmap has consulted on films since Matrix Reloaded to make their hacking scenes more realistic. In Elysium, they use map version 13:)
"It's like poetry. Every scene rhymes."
"…it concludes on a note of defeat, immediately after they make a huge mistake that sets back their efforts enormously. No studio nowadays would even consider trusting the audience to know that a movie’s heroes will be vindicated at a later date."
And does it really matter? what explanation could be so interesting that we'd really even need to care what's the real story is?
Not even close.
