I really really liked that! Thanks a lot!

Spader's character, as I have said before, reminds me almost EXACTLY of my dad, both in looks and personality. This episode was the closest to my dad for sure, with the games and mixed messages. I for one enjoy this character, but I wonder if anyone else would get the same enjoinment as I do over having my dad made

I don't know a whole lot about eating disorders, but I do know a lot about drug addiction. From what I understand, eating disorders are, like addiction, passed on genetically, so you are born with it. Environmental pressures play a role, but you are born with that precondition. It's likely that fat jokes provoked the

Yeah for real! That was the most subversive show on TGIF, which sounds like I'm damning it with faint praise, but I mean it. At least to my 8 year old self, it was subversive. I have no clue how it would play now, but I recall that JTTOU was pulled from ABC because it wasn't family friendly enough.

"Had an episode in which Matthew Perry died of internal bleeding"
He seemed OK when they left him at the hospital, making jokes and laughing off the accident.  He must have taken a turn for the worse when the Seavers left him. Michael Seaver should have prayed harder.

Yeah he was you're funny comedian. Solid dud. RIP.

You sir, are right on. This season, which is closer to the beginning of the season than not, already has a least three certified classics, definitely including last night's, my favorite ep. so far and quite possibly a contender for top 10 TV comedy episodes of all time.

This is a cool idea for a feature, and the perfect film to kick it off with. I really liked Scott Pilgrim. I saw it only a few weeks ago, but I kept saying to my roommate "how did I never see this before!? It's practically made for me!"

It's not just fiction that plays Calvinball, making up the rules as they go along. In politics, or in particular the political media, they play it all the time. Some times a poll with a result of 60% is "a huge majority," while sometimes it's "barely a majority." And during the 2008 election, everything was "going to

Big deal, I have Gregory Peck's bicycle…and Barbara Mandrell's skateboard!

Good stuff! Great great show. I'm very happy that you are doing this show. Just please, please reassure me that you do not respect the awful, awful David Brooks.

I was listening to Twisted Tale on Youtube just before. It sounds like goddam Linkin Park! Linkin Park!

Are you thinking of "The Limits of Control?" That was a Jim Jarmusch film set in Spain from 2009. I didn't see it but it looked beautiful from the trailers.

Yeah, she'd be an awesome girlfriend. I  mean, obviously there are the looks, as she is gorgeous, but that'll only get you in the door. She's a cool as hell chick, funny, into partying, a Lefty. She's almost the girl version of me. I wonder if the actress is in any way like her character?

From the Anna Faris boosting that the AV Club has been doing for the last few years, you'd think they own stock in her or something. I didn't see this episode yet. Was she all you hoped, AV?

That was an AMAZING episode of TV. Instant classic. Glad you agreed with the A.

Me too. I thought this was one of the best eps. I expected at least a B+, of not A-.

"Because Spain… Why is it that we know so much about Italian culture and Italian food, and French culture and French food, and Spain has sort of been this island, to a certain extent? "

Cryptonomicon was the first NS book I read. It's also one of my favorite novels of all time. I've read most of his books, and none come even close to the quality of Cryptonomicon. SNow Crash wasn't great, the Baroque Cycle was painful, and Anathem was pretty good. I'll probably check this one out, but if it doesn't
