I would be reluctant to give my money to any restoration or tuner shop. I have seen too many cases of fraud, theft and hack restoration work to trust the industry.  I'm sure there arw good trustworthy shops out there but there seem to be a lot people over their heada or just plain crooked

I’m not surprised you could finance the phone because it was probably $1-2000 back then. The company I worked for had phones in the most heavily used trucks and a bag phone (remember those) for the rest of the fleet. I’m guessing the advent of pocket sized phones killed off the market for permanently installed phones.

That’s reasonable, a well built chopper is art, just like a good low rider. I would say a chopper built by a professional is valid if their reputation is based on the product rather than TV drama
