The digital version of this would be "Sorcery!" for android devices. I know that it's not printed out, but it puts the story and your decisions as pieces of paper together and you can read through it as a whole story. Even in the combat (actually the written combat description can give you clues on how to fight)!

This reminds me a bit of the other indie first person fantasy game that was anounced quiet some time ago. It wasn't so much with magic, but more about fighting with weapons. Too bad I lost track of it and forgot the name.
