Actually I just found this thread where a savvy Bioware social network user created a tool that does exactly what I am looking for.
Origin still doesn't work on my computer. EA support staff have always been ready to help but give up after a couple attempts and ignore me till I go away. Its like "is your computer plugged in?" but instead its "Install the latest version...again."

Yes I just played through the Kiln a little while ago. I agree with you in that I really like it when the stories are left up to the player to understand and not fed to you. Its one reason why I liked the Silent Hill series although it can be frustrating when something is just 'there' but impossible to understand.
