So much for the strong Teacher’s union.

It’s simply a manifestation of the fear of reprisals for slavery and over a century of systematic oppression.

going apeshit about wearing masks

It was just yesterday when the bigots thought they’d won. They had just voted for the most openly racist president in modern times. They celebrated, thinking of the wonder things a head for them, and the restoration of their horrible past.

The protests work.

Ah, yes.  I remember that day when I realized I was older than anybody in the NFL, NBA or MLB.  It stung a little bit.

I always liked Vince. And I’m pretty sure he was the last player in the league older than me.

I’m surprised the Karl Malone impression hasn’t come up sooner. I distinctly remember watching that a few times back in the 90's...figured more people remembered that. I always thought he took that shit way over the line.

People fueled by anger, hate, and stupidity tend not to think of the long-term consequences of their actions.

I want to be sure that he get this right: MS was the wealthiest per capita. And Southern states had more economic inequality. Slave states were essentially banana republics. They were plutocracies and oligarchies in ways Northern states never were, essentially because of the nature of their economies.

There were a small handful of Confederates who suggested that if the South truly wanted to survive as a nation, they should abolish slavery. That would’ve not only garnered international support, but freeing their huge population of slaves and allowing them to enlist would have helped offset the South’s ever-worsening

Well, it was the richest do largely to slaves and their labor. Like most of the south they were likely to have huge economic problems without that. Not that the Civil War didn’t harm their economy and likely end slavery sooner (they really shot themselves in the foot with that).

I was reminded of something similar, looking to see if there were any figures that should take the traitor’s place on that pedestal:

Dynamite that shit then.

I think that explains kale; previously it was useful as part of the deli meat display, but then someone figured it was edible if you soaked it in olive oil and added S&P (which would make cardboard pretty tasty). There are a lot of leafy greens that taste better, are easier to digest, and more nutritious but kale

I sort of kick myself over having missed the opportunity to have met some of the survivors of Port Chicago at an event at the Rosie the Riveter museum in Richmond. There is a memorial to that event but unfortunately its still under the control of the US military and you have to ask permission. There is a small church

I actually read an article that right up until WW2 Portland had some of the most racist laws regarding black people moving to that city, as in they were literally banned. It took WW2 and the government forcing them to accept workers down at the ship yards to change it. What I’ve also found is that classism is very

Not all of “us” are the same you know... As someone who grew up in the deep south, then moved to the east coast, then the west coast and have worked for innumerable companies that have fairly diverse employees from an early age I saw the full swatch of how systemic racism is interwoven into the fabric of the country
