Yeah, the more I think about it, it’s probably for technical reasons. They know what they’re doing and will get out when they have planned to get out. And then, as per usual, the retail investors (us), always last to the party, will be left holding the bag.

I take your points. However....how do you account for the very real possibility that investors may lose confidence in companies that lose literally billions of dollars a year?

I never thought that mentioning I saw DK at the Mab in SF would make me feel like grampa Simpson.

But they’re being evaluated in the same manner, ie they’re *different* than other businesses, which was (for the most part) the excuse used to justify dot coms not being profitable back in the day.

If the VCs are still invested, that makes me scratch my head even more (I confess I don’t follow these things like I used to). It’s almost like everyone’s completely forgotten about the dot com bust.

VC money has been paying for your rides on the hopes that they’ll someday, someway be profitable.”

He's citing an unhinged Twitter rant by Larry Johnson:

Why are unions unnecessary in 2019?

You can ride a bike home while drunk AND carrying a pizza box?  I salute you!

I am completely ignorant of the vanlife phenomenon (this is literally the first I’ve heard of it), and am not being dismissive at all of this piece (I enjoyed it!). But...

Having grown up in Show low, I also got a couple of smiles from this piece...

Yeah, my grandfather fought in Europe in ww2 and built Corvette bodies in Michigan for decades. I'm glad my car buying times started after he passed because he would totally have...not been ok with me not buying American...lol

Sadly, I’m starting to resemble this comment. Still gave you a star tho....

Agreed in principle. My only complaint on my ‘97 LC (except for the lack of cupholders...haha) was...electronics. I get that you can’t engineer electronics that last as long as an engine, so why give me an electronic radio antenna or electronic seat adjustments? (For example)

As someone whose first 3 cars were pre 74 2002s, I loved this article. So much of what he had to say about driving them was still true by the time I fell in love at first sight in 1989.

He is the Shane Victorino or Theo Fleury of basketball: the only way you can like him is if he’s on your team.

I like tequila and soda with three lime wedges on a hot day.
