Its the overwhelmingly popular opinion of the 4runner community that the 4th gen is the ugliest, followed by the 10+ pre refresh 5th gen. The post facelift (current) 4runner is considered one of the better looking generations after the 3rd and 1st gen. 2010 4runners are just awful looking

Its not that theyre bad in any quantifiable way, theyre just kinda boring (to me). Ive driven a compass and it was fine to drive, driven a commander with the 5.7 and i really liked that. I just dont see any jeep but a wrangler being something id ever buy

You might be spoiled by very modern cars. I drive an older suv so something that can get to 60 in less than 7 seconds and can carry 5 passengers comfortably doesent seem all that slow. The one i drove didnt have a CVT though, and i despise CVTs, so maybe your take on the driving dynamics is right.

American trucks are very reliable (and not even just recently). Also have MUCH larger fuel tanks and I would imagine range is much more important to them than MPG.
