I was just looking this up! First episode (and apparently the original plot for the show).

I highly recommend Brain.FM. I read about it in this Lifehacker article and it basically got me through grad school and it’s been integrated into my routine. I do a 30 minute focus session on my walk to work so I hit the office already in a state of flow. I use a recharge session to get through the 2pm slump. I even…
I used to attend the Sarasota Kennel Club fairly regularly when I lived in the area a few years back. This article brought a tear to my eye. The people who worked there were some of the loveliest folk. I’ve never been able to resolve my ethical conflict between enjoying the sport and the inherent potential for…
Thank you. My desk is now covered in my afternoon coffee and my office-mate is too concerned for me to explain why I just had a laughing fit...
I submitted a claim yesterday and have not received any sort of confirmation email about the submission. The form indicated I should receive something, so did anybody receive confirmation of their claim? (and before anybody asks, yes, I checked my spam folder)
Very true. I’m still doing the research, but my initial impression though is that if we can help people better determine when and if they should further their education we may be able to solve some of these issues indirectly. Credential creep is a particular problem that is feeding rising demand (and therefore costs) f…
I agree that increased costs have changed the cost-benefit analysis of attending college, but I don’t believe we’ve hit a point where college is not a good investment. On average, lifetime earnings still increase as you advance your studies. The issue I believe you are getting at is that the earnings for some degrees…
As a former college admissions officer who now works on the end of the puzzle (retention and completion), I am confident that college is still worth the investment.
I think my boyfriend wishes I didn’t learn how to burp because I’m a non-stop burp factory now.
Honestly, it was purely accidental. I burped involuntarily one day and I guess I was paying attention to my body more than normal because I was able to lock-in the muscles that did the work. After some trial and error (and a few unpleasant misfires) I was able to reproduce the action.
I only recently learned how to burp. My mother was very much against burping as she considered it crude and poor manners, so no one in my family could burp on command.
This was exactly what I thought they were referring to when I read the header. Why would I burn my entire body for one spot when I could just burn that one spot instead?
I had a similar issue, except as a staff person who had a very close email address to a faculty member (same, slightly uncommon last name + my first initial vs. just the last name). The twist was that I worked as a registrar, sidestepping any FERPA issues (registrars know everything). So when a student accidentally…
I’m really excited to try this; I’m always looking for savory breakfasts that don’t require eggs (it’s a 50/50 shot they upset my stomach which is too high of a gamble for the start of the day). Could you do a post of egg-free, savory breakfast ideas? My current go to is a hash (generally cobbled together from dinner…
I considered trying these until I saw they question whether NASA ever went to the moon.
I needed to see this.
I had an aloe for about 8 years that I kept bringing back from the brink of death. He survived 5 moves, including one across the country!
NFCU is part of the Co-op network, as are many college- and university-affiliated credit unions. If you don’t mind venturing onto/near a college campus, most ATMs on campus will dispense $5 or $10 bills in addition to $20 bills. The ATMs on my campus don’t let you choose the denominations (but I’m totally going to…
I can’t wait to see how much of a dumpster fire his presidential “library” will be...
I was running late to a friend’s gathering and on a whim I grabbed a bag of frozen, microwave-in-the-bag edamame. Watching it be devoured before everything else made me rethink every time consuming appetizer I’ve ever made.
