Jeremy's not wholly serious, but he's certainly not just joking around.  Dan's advice isn't right, but it's not wrong either.  If Natalie had a winning hand, I'd be fine with the scene, but she "loses" the logical argument, and the only ace she has is sex, because she's a woman.
