its much faster to ring it up as you go I have been to a few stores that let you scan and bag as you shop with the ocassional "random" audit..a few even have touch screen scales at the fruit/veg area to print your own barcodes ..and costcos started to roll out self checkout with extra long and wide conveyors ..
