It’s what a Canadian like Rekha Sharma is paid with.

She was probably thinking, “oh cool, I landed a guest appearence on Star Trek.”

Yes, the show is explicitly in the Prime Timeline, 2 years after The Cage.

Yepper. While he was kind of annoying at times, well... kids can be annoying. I adored the father/son relationship they showed throughout the show, continuing as Jake grew older. Even when he was 18+, and even after he moved out of their quarters, Ben never shied away from hugging or kissing his son. It’s so rare to

This was definitely the most Star Trek episode of Discovery yet. New life is sought out, life that reminds me a bit of Stranger Things, and that makes me worry about that life’s fate.

The crew has settled into a more comfortable groove where they can work together. They’re a little less on edge. And we get a bit

I thought it was Lorca and Stammets assuming that a computer was necessary, when actually it was the knowledge contained within the Tardigrade that was needed.

Agree that the Expanse is a great show. But they’ve had more episodes to pull all the various strands of their story together.

Next time on Star Trek: Discovery: Lorca and Burnham beam down to the molten surface of the planet Excalbia, where they are forced to fight against recreations of Donald Trump, Krotus of Andoria, and Jared of Subway.

You know, its possible she was just contracted for two episodes.

All the reasons people are citing as how this isn’t like old Star Trek are the reasons I like it lol, TNG doesn’t hold up at all if you’re used to modern tv and even the “darker” DS9 looks pretty tame in comparison to say Farscape.

Oh, and Commander Landry dies for no damn good reason.

It just wants to play.

The Klingons got to be the flawed and often hypocritical beings that humans weren’t allowed to be on the show. They got to be the dishonorable people who worship honor, the religious fanatics who would use bad science to falsely instill faith, the race whose pretense and affinity towards violence covers up an arcane

This is a really rad show. Ideas and character that I thought would bug me have turned out more interesting than I expected.

Lorca broadcasting the distress call had a “beating will continue until morale improves” vibe

This episode seems to take inspiration from the TOS episode “Devil in the Dark” and the Voyager two-parter “Equinox.”

The cadence of this one males me think of “For the world is hollow, and I have touched the sky.” Just like last week seemed like a riff on “Conscience of the King.” I don’t mind the retro pretension.

I’ve found myself surprisingly engaged with the Klingon material. Growing up, I remember them being my least favorite TNG episodes. Though now that I’m older, I’ve found them to be among TNG’s most interesting.

Random ‘pinions:

Oof. B- is generous, and I think the text of the review bears that out. I’m not a hater of the new series - I loved the first three episodes, and I think the people who are looking for things to be mad about are being foolish - but this episode was just bad. The pacing was awful, the climax didn’t work on any level.
