Good point but I like to keep them switched seperatly with the ground set up on a master switch. One master switch kills the lights, fuel pump, fans, and accessories. Allows independent usage of companents but has one switch to kill everything but the ignition.

A low compression engine will have lower numbers on a compression test, but I’m not sure where an old jeep engine should be. On an 8:1 turbo 2.2 Chrysler engine I’m happy with 120psi, but would expect to see 150psi on the same engine with higher compression ratio naturally aspirated.

Or also add an electric fuel pump, on the same switch as the electric fan.

You cant find a 4x4 diesel (6.0 or 7.3) low mile Excursion for under $20k.

This. I agree with everything on this list except for the Excursion. If you have the need, you can’t beat their value on the used market.

Alternatively, the 7.3L diesel version of the Excursion is a wonder. It is reliable, it tows and will run all day at highway speed while getting fuel mileage that no other SUV that size can match.
