    I'm glad at least one comment thread didn't descend into diet talk. I feel like diet talk is all around me, constantly, and it's not good for me (as a person, but especially recovering from disordered eating and body dysmorphia).

    Here's the thing though: the science doesn't say that being fat is unhealthy. No credible science ever produced has shown that being fat, in and of itself, is unhealthy until you get to the ridiculously extreme end. And since the extreme end of thin is also unhealthy, this doesn't tell us anything. Underweight BMIs

    Calories in/calories out has been disproven for about 50 years. Some fat people eat more than some thin people; some fat people eat less than some thin people. See this overview for a wonderfully snarky take on it.

    Fatness is highly stigmatized in society. I'm not sure what universe you live in fat people are told their bodies are okay and attractive and healthy (PS: yes, fat people are healthy).
