I’m still pissed off that this shooting, which the shooter admitted was an attack on women, did not get a ton of attention. People focused on the fact that it was in a movie theater more than the fact that the shooter was an admitted misogynist. I mean the host of a radio show even said that the shooter frequently…
You also got tomoto’d :(
So you’re saying they’re going to put up a tiny plaque honoring “Mr. Squeeky and That Gross Looking Grey One”?
You’re right, this is not new by any means. It’s interesting that people like you are so invested in the untrue concept of 2 biological sexes.
Bey doesn’t owe you—-or the general public—-diddly squat. She’s not your friend, sister, or mother. She’s an entertainer who sings and dances and occasionally acts. She periodically gives interviews in order to sell albums, tickets, or clothing. Other than that she’s extremely private. She doesn’t owe “us” her…
But why though? She is a public figure and a brand. It makes sense for her to craft things because so much of her career and success is based on her image (at least shes even talking about it and doing videos like Formation because there are a lot of high profile black celebs that havent said anything).
Just because she’s not using academia’s definition of humanism doesn’t mean she’s wrong. One of the accepted dictionary definitions is someone with an interest in human welfare, values and dignity, and her follow-up kind of explains a little more where she’s going with it, I think.
How amusing! I don’t want Beyonce to ever give any media that kind of direct access. She is a Black woman with a Southern accent who spent her high school years in a studio and touring- her detractors would cut her to ribbons. Hell, Jezzies might join in if her word choice was problematic.
Please note—she does not owe you, me, or anyone anything.
*sigh* damned if you do, damned if you don’t
What exactly did you want her to say? Are they not good answers? Are they not clear? Do you want her to sound like an idiot or scream fuck the police even if that’s not how she truly feels?
As a feminist and a humanist, it annoys me when people present these labels as alternatives to each other rather than edifices of thought with a huge amount of overlap.
Yeah. I’m Catholic too.
I dont like that casting agents call for certain ethnicities for certain roles.
Here in Australia when we had our professional production of 'Hairspray' a few years back, there were a few white stage mothers who brought their white kids to casting call looking....noticeably tanned.
There are legit white girls out there pouting over how they can’t aspire to playing Angelica or Eliza the way they can aspire to playing, you know, 99% of the other female leads in popular musicals out there.
You won’t get a call-back if you call it a ‘soundtrack.’ Sorry.
Why the fuck does this bother you so much? Jesus.
