Folks be like “The pop industry is full of industry plants! How I miss the good old days when the pop industry was scrappy and real.”

I enjoy her extremely Missouri pronunciation of you’re on “Casual”:

I loved VEEP SO MUCH. Bonus she was like a Barbie with her beautiful clothes. So happy that JLD led a vehicle worthy of her talents. But I think of that last scene with Gary being taken away all the time. Heartbreaking. They were such a good pair. Lightning in a bottle.

“The true threat to art and the creation of art is the consolidation of money and power.” is the better headline for this. But it feels like part of the AV Club agenda is taking down a celebrity a day.

I know it’s just because I’m old that all new pop music sounds the same to me. She still gets my vote for looking great as the Statue of Liberty.

I mean she’s on a major label, what you call being an “industry plant” is just the label doing it’s only job

Also there are things so absurd that are now reality that were just jokes when the show was on the air.

Yeah man! They stopped making good music in {fill in the year you graduated college}

It really is kind of amazing how Seinfeld thinks that PC wokeness has killed television comedy when Veep and Curb, shows featuring his former collaborators, both had some of the most non-PC, un-woke content and just recently left the air each after long, critically acclaimed and commercially successful runs. Being smart doesn’t automatically make you good at marketing. lol And honestly have you seen those dumbass hats people have been wearing the last few years? SNL even made a sketch about them (“Big Dumb Hat”). Honestly she was just before her time with the urban sombrero.

Oh yeah everyone in the show got was dumber and more cartoonish over the years, to the point where later seasons could joke about it. But savvy people have still bet on things way dumber than the urban sombrero.

Elaine devolves rapidly in the show around the dudetrio, and there’s even an arc where she finds a better version of them and becomes a better person but realizes she is addicted to being terrible and dumb.

It was a peach!

Fashion is frequently dumb and capricious. She thought she could play the game.

It is one of the things I appreciate about living in a college town: college radio. I may not always like whatever they are playing, but occasionally, I’ll discover something that causes me to stop and wait for the DJ to come on air again so I can find out what just played.

For me, KEXP is my go-to when I want to listen to new stuff. I know I could just throw a random station on a streaming service seeded with stuff I like, but I actually like having DJs who are fans getting all fannish about bands I’ve never heard before and find myself liking too.

“Poptimism” has been around music criticism for some time. It has even been around the AVC well even before the mass exodus of writers back in 2013. Mostly, I pay it no mind—different strokes for different folks, different quirks for different jerks—but I do get annoyed when it feels like the writer is just dumping

Thanks for introducing me to The Chisel! Another great punk record that came out just a couple of weeks ago is Bad Nerves’ Still Nervous.

Of the albums in this list, the Dehd album >>>>>>>

All of these lack that sweet Laurel Canyon sound.
